There hasn't been much wind here in Central PA lately, so I'm going to post a link to this video (click here) of my friend Caesar Finies doing his inimitable thing down on Bonaire. Caesar pioneered and specializes in a form of freestyle called flowstyle. You'll see that on the video; then at 2:40 the pace picks up as Caesar demonstrates some higher-wind freestyle. Here are some stills from that video:

The next day, Monday, wasn't quite as breezy (so no planing at all), but warmer, with brilliant sunshine. This short video shows what NOT to do when sailing backwinded (i.e., on the lee side of the sail). It's important to sink the windward side of the board, which I was doing just fine at the beginning. However, a little later I forgot and sank the leeward side... (If the movie plays jerkily, try pressing "play" and then immediately pausing it for a minute or two. When you resume play it should be smooth.)
For the first time it was cool enough for a full wetsuit. The breeze was planable, which could not have been said for the last several weeks. But it wasn't THAT windy, so I took the opportunity to try some lee-side sailing with the biggest sail (my usual 8.1 m^2) on the smallest board (my usual 148 Liter Bic Techno) I've ever used for this.
Danielle B., who lives in Howard, got her first experience windsurfing. She did so well with the 4.0 "Fisher Price" sail in super light winds, that I offered her my Ezzy 5.0 sail so she could have more power. This led to her dropping the rig and/or herself in the water a few times, but on the whole she did great. There was a breeze, not enough for planing, but enough to tempt me. I decided to practice backwinded sailing (lee-side sailing). I used the Baby Board so I wouldn't do a lot of falling and have to uphaul much. But I used the 8.1 m^2 sail for more power. My friend Helen came up from State College for a sailing session. The wind was very light, but still enough to let us create definite wakes on a surface as smooth as glass.
