Then the wind picked up enough for me to get some nice planing runs across the lake, while the crowds were still around. I love to be able to show people (which there aren't too many of on my end of the lake) how cool and thrilling planing is.
A great day! I loaded up my car and schlepped the Baby Board, the drag board (on-land derelict demo board), and my148-L Bic Techno 2, plus the 4.0 m^2 "Fisher-Price" sail and my 8.1 Severne over to the public swimming beach for the 2--3 pm DCNR-sponsored windsurfing demo. The Bald Eagle State Park personnel had put up signs etc and rounded up some interested beach-goers. So there were ~20 people for my 10-minute Reader's Digest mini lesson, and then 3 adults and about 8 kids got on the Baby Board (one at a time!) to actually try windsurfing on the water. This went on for well over an hour. The only negative was the crazy chop caused by unusually heavy power boat traffic.
