COVID-19 Message. I have unfortunately decided to suspend giving lessons until there is no longer much danger from the novel coronavirus. My wife and I have been avoiding getting physically close even to friends and family members, so I don't want to blow it by getting close to a stranger who may unknowingly be a carrier of the virus. Many people in the State College area seem to have thrown caution to the winds and are congregating in restaurants and bars so I would not be surprised if the virus makes a comeback.
Welcome to the website of Central Pennsylvania's only windsurfing school, where you can have fun learning a new sport in Centre County, PA while supporting a worthy cause that you choose!
I don't accept money for lessons or rentals.
Instead, I accept as compensation CHECKS* made payable to one of about 36 worthy nonprofit organizations (both local and international). For a private lesson of at least 3 hours I want a check of at least $100. (For two learners, the minimum donation is $150. For 3 or 4 people, it is $175.) I then send your check directly to the chosen organization. (For links to those organizations, mouse over "NONPROFITS?". If you have a favorite organization that's not on my list, talk to me.)
*If you're traveling, maybe carrying only plastic, we can go online and make the donation directly on the organization's web site, using PayPal or your credit card. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
Gift Certificates!
_Trying
to find the perfect gift for someone special? Give
them a gift they will never forget: a windsurfing lesson at Better
World Windsurfing School. See "Gift Certificates" under "YOUR LESSON".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video!
I usually shoot some video and/or still photos during each lesson, and usually I post these in the blog. Although video feedback showing your mistakes can be a valuable learning tool, I generally show only the parts where you are sailing right. So after your lesson (usually within a week), you may be able to see yourself performing right here on this website. (Of course, this is only with your permission.) |
While you're here, why not check out my blog, which will usually have recent windsurfing activity here at Sayers Lake and elsewhere.
