This may have been my smoothest planing jibe attempt ever, and I got to do it passing a pontoon boat full of people both going and coming. I'm always glad for a chance to show people how cool windsurfing is. In this case, there was just the perfect wind gust for this. Today was the first day the lake was back down to normal summer level, and also the first day good for sailing sans wetsuit. This being Memorial Day, there were a number of people sitting on my side of the lake who looked somewhat interested, so I was able to give them my "business" card. | |

Warm enough for just a shorty wetsuit, and wonderfully consistent breeze on the lake today. Rigged my 8.1 and went out for a little while, to plane in the gusts. Put my phone (running MyTracks) in a waterproof case and tucked it into my PFD: Got map AND a record of speed. Proof that getting planing really does TRIPLE one's speed. (With wind that's more than just barely planable I'm sure it can quadruple one's speed or even more.)
