The wind always sounds stronger than it is, but still this was a pretty brisk breeze, and Ron was doing a great job cruising along on this, his second day ever windsurfing.

It was a surprisingly windy day. Ron S. came over for a rental, to practice what he learned in his beginner lesson the other day. He did amazingly well, and Centre County PAWS got another $30. I sailed too. We both struggled with the very gusty conditions, but both had a blast. Here is a video of highlights I shot with my GoPro camera mounted on a Clew View. I used both my 8.0 and my 6.2 square meter sails, managing to waterstart a bunch of times with both of them. ![]() Day before yesterday (July 12, 2011), I blasted past a rowboat with 2 Amish fishermen in it. I'd seen kayaks and canoes on Sayers before, but never a rowboat. I've seen Amish folks ice fishing here, but this is the first time I've noticed them in a boat. You can see them at upper right in the photo. At the moment of this still (captured from GoPro HD video!) I was snagging one of the lines they were trailing behind their boat. I tried to jibe right after this, but didn't make it. I wish I could blame my crash on that measly nylon line, but I can't.
