Lesson in Very Light Breezes from whvdb on Vimeo.
...to see whether he wants to buy gear and start seriously windsurfing. Unfortunately, we have been having exceedingly light breezes, but still he had a good time. Even though he had done a little windsurfing some years ago, and has experience with small sailboats, he wanted the basic beginner lesson. He caught on very fast.

This couple had their first and only windsurfing lesson some years ago in North Carolina. Yesterday they came back for more, asking me to just start at the beginning. They progressed fast in the four + hours with Better World Windsurfing. As usual, we first went over the basics on land with a "drag board". Then they tried it out in the water with me standing in the shallows nearby. After they got semi-proficient, I got my own gear and the three of us sailed around on the lake, as seen in the video below. Toward the end I offered them some slightly more advanced stuff: After some land instruction and a couple of demos on the water, both of them correctly did a pivot jibe on the first attempt! (They picked the Government Accountability Project for their generous donation.)
John and his wife Andrea had taken a lesson in July 2018. Since then, they have bought their own windsurfing gear and have used it for extended family recreation. Now John has come up for some help with his gear and to continue progressing in his windsurfing skills. John's fee went to Clearwater Conservancy.
John D. 2nd Windsurfing Lesson from whvdb on Vimeo. It seemed pretty breezy, so I skipped out of an afternoon with family at the Central PA Arts Fest to go windsurfing instead. I got planing in the footstraps for only 6 seconds, but it was beautiful out on the water.
Siblings R. and S. came from Boston and New York to visit family in this area. When they heard about Better World Windsurfing lessons they decided to give it a try. They chose to have their fee sent to Doctors without Borders
