From May 5 to May 12, 48 members of BABA stayed in 7 sound-front houses in Avon, NC on the Outer Banks. During that week, we had all the possible permutations of warm, cool, rainy, dry, windy and calm conditions.

This video shows light-air sailing and SUPing, followed by planing and a couple of my jibes in which I show the crappy form which consistently makes me lose all my speed in the jibe.

My inability to maintain speed in a planing jibe notwithstanding, I'm a very good instructor for novices. Here I'm helping Joni, who hails from Ligonier, PA, brush up on her basic skills.

BABA member Tom DeHaan, who usually sails on the Hudson River, executes a beautiful duck jibe.

Here's Joni practicing on her own. She's gotten perfectly competent at steering and tacking, and later, with her husband Tom's help, she even managed a beach start (not so easy in light wind).
