Yesterday the lake was still a good 10 feet above normal (my earlier estimates were off), which posed no problems for Jeff S.'s introduction to windsurfing. In fact, it was nice for us, since it meant that walking in the shallows was on grass rather than on rocks. Jeff (who made a contribution to WPSU) is already pretty much of a waterman (although not a sailor), and he picked up the basics of windsurfing extremely quickly. (Yes there were some thunderstorms, but we worked around them. And yes, the wind was so light it was sometimes hard to tell which way it was blowing -- but we still did OK because it's possible to sail with incredibly light wind.)
This is Bill vdB, sharing little vignettes of windsurfing on Sayers Lake, in Howard PA. and sometimes elsewhere.
